30:30 - High-Yield Oil Palm Variety

We will pursue a “30:30” target with the objective of planting hybrid seeds with fruit yields of 30 tons (FFB) per hectare and a palm product extraction rate to 30% (CPO and CPKO). This and more is presently being achieved with newly developed hybrid-seeds produced in Papua New Guinea, Indonesia, Thailand, Costa Rica and Malaysia.

(Note: Our forecasts are based on average of 18 to 22 tons of FFB/ha and extraction rate of 22% CPO and 3.5% CPKO)

RSPO Certified Crushing Plants – total capacity 7'000 MT FFB/day

RSPO Certified Refineries – Abidjan/San Pedro - Capacity 2’500 MT/day

Green and Clean - Renewable Energy for all MAEVA Operations

Autonomous production of heat and electricity from biomass to serve all the power needs of the MAEVA group of companies, including providing electricity to be fed back into the grid for the use of communities.

Green and Clean Waste – NO Waste - NO POME and Qualification for CDM credit

Focus will be on effective organic wastes recycling technology to convert organic wastes into organic fertilizer. Our Instant Composting Plant is the solution to the common palm oil mill waste management issues, resulting in NO air pollution and NO burning of EFB (empty fruit bunches), NO POME (Palm Oil Mill Effluent), NO Ponds, NO Methane pollution, NO slurry, NO sludge - therefore NO air nor water pollution.

With our advance POME Treatment system, which is integrated into the oil mill processing line, we will be instantly converting 100% EFB, 100% POME, Sludge and Slurry instantly into bagged Bio-Chemical Fertilizer for use in our plantations as well as for sale.

Sustainable Agriculture Project

25’000 ha Sunflower, Soybean Plantation

zero-tillage, CA with crop rotations (Maize, Pulses)

·       Due to high market demand, MAEVA needs to increase the production of sunflower and soybean oil for the local Mozambican market as well as for export to our neighboring countries.

·       MAEVA also has concluded an off-take agreement for Sunflower Oil with European customers for up to 10’000 metric tons per year. Agreements for soyabean oil and soybean meal as well as maize are ready to be signed.

o   MAEVA intends to apply the Conservation Agriculture (CA) principles, which are based on optimizing yields and profits, to achieve a balance of agricultural, economic and environmental benefits by minimum soil disturbance (no-till), soil cover and a diversified crop rotation.

o   The plantation preferably should be a mix of industrial plantations and contract farming with small-stake outgrowers’ associations involved.

Coconut Plantation & Hybrid Nursery

Due to increased market demands of MAEVA customers of Copra Oil as well as Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO), MAEVA is in the process of establishing a Coconut R&D Laboratory and Nursery.

Our existing 4'000 ha of old coconut plantations will be renewed with high-yielding hybrids as well as an additional 10'000 ha planted over the next 6 years (2013 - 2018).

We will continue to support our planters in the Inharrime/Nhacongo region with new plantations and outgrower schemes by supplying them with new hybrids, which will guarantee our planters a 3 to 4-fold improvement of their income.
